We have wild orchids!

Did you know that orchid seeds are like dust and can lay dormant underground for 1000 years? They need the right light levels to grow. We have three types: Twayblade orchid (in the bottom photo), Early Purple (we will try and get a photo for you), and the rest above are Northern Marsh. It is said that this variety was growing under the cross when Jesus died, so the red spotted leaves are the blood of Christ. It is very rare that that orchids grow in the wild and we are so fortunate to have them here in the grounds. Our bees will help pollinate them to keep them growing.
